Germany goes to the streets
Germany stands up – English
In Berlin, hundreds of thousands are taking to the streets to protest against Merkel and her government.
Querdenken is a German word that translates into English as “lateral thinking”. Under that name, a German demonstration movement was formed against government measures to combat the COVID 19 pandemic. The group was founded in April 2020 by Stuttgart computer entrepreneur Michael Ballweg, who called for an “immediate end to all corona measures” as well as the “abdication of the German federal government. Ballweg organized demonstrations against the crown measures of the federal and state government in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart, and recorded two demonstrations in Berlin in August 2020, with hundreds of thousands of participants. The component of the name “711” refers to the area code of the City of Stuttgart.
